In the peaceful heart of Bombay, young Shams leads a normal life with his barber dad and homemaker mom, where his biggest worries are his grades and fights with his best friend, Qamar. Shams has a talent for poetry, but soon learns that being good isn't always enough. As he grapples with adolescent worries and struggles to connect with his father, the city is overtaken by riots, and Shams is abruptly forced to come to terms with some harsh realities.
